HOW TO ROAD TRIP

Groovin' Tunes: Anyone can tell you that music is essential to any road trip. Our mix includes oldies, beach country, and some rock. Kenny Chesney and Jimmy Buffet will be at the top of my playlist at least. Whether you're playing in through the car's sound system or just in your own earbuds, good music can go a long way.  Kate Spade earbuds

Good Reads: My iPad has to be fully loaded with the latest versions of Glamour and Matchbook Magazine (and maybe an episode of Rachel Zoe too). But since iPads do die eventually, it's important to pick up hard copies of your favorite mags and maybe a trashy beach read.

Lots of Fuel: It's really tempting to load up on all the junk food available at gas stations, but nowadays there's actually healthy options in that 7/11. Recently I tried pop chips, and they really are a good replacement for potato chips. Really! I like them. Almonds and peanut butter-filled pretzels are options too.

Cozy Pillow: OK, so this pillow is more suited to a sofa than a car seat, pillows that would actually be comfortable in the car just aren't that cute. But you know you're going to doze off a few times before you get to your destination. Might as well save your neck and bring a pillow! Arianna Belle pillow

Big Sunnies: For when you're not asleep, sunglasses have to be on hand. I don't know about you, but I cannot function outside without a pair on. This only worsens in the car...driving is not an option unless I have something to protect my eyes. The bigger the pair, the better, right? Karen Walker sunglasses

What would your "guide to road trips" include?

  1. All the essentials...I love this! This is pretty much everything on my list, but my "fuel" would include Smartfood popcorn. Yum!
