KATE SPADE CHEVRON STRIPES

Just when I thought I couldn't bear to see one more chevron stripe, Kate Spade hits me with a mini-collection of nothing but majorly covetable chevron. While some of the items come in black, most are either red or blue - a color combo I will forever love. This is the one that I absolutely MUST HAVE (and it's only $88). It's all so cute. How do you feel about chevron? Still into it or absolutely over it?

PS: Kate Spade just announced a surprise sale! 75% off for only 24 hours.

FROM THE WEEKEND

For one reason or another, this weekend was extra good. Like I mentioned on Saturday, we went to see The Great Gatsby. My guy went to go get some popcorn after we sat down, and he came back with two miniature champagne bottles! I was thrilled. The theater had a whole wine/champagne setup just for Gatsby-goers. It really helped us get in the 1920s mood :) I was all excited to go to the Kenny Chesney concert with my girlfriends Saturday night, but due to an unfortunate turn of events - and my own clumsiness - I wasn't able to go. I fell down some old, rickety stairs Friday afternoon and really tore up my foot. Since the concert was at Cowboys Stadium and would require quite a bit of walking, I decided to sit this one out. My sweet mama came up to Dallas to pick me up and take my crippled self home for the night. I was bummed, but spending a quiet night at home with Mom was really great, especially since yesterday was Mother's Day. We shared chocolate-covered strawberries and wine and watched an old favorite movie (Mrs. Doubtfire!). On Sunday, we both slept in before heading back to the city for lunch and a bit of mall-browsing. I am so incredibly lucky to have a mom like her. She is always on top of things, never forgets anything, and is always there when I need her. I am a mama's girl, through and through, and I don't know where I'd be without her.

How was your weekend? What did you do to celebrate your mama?

THE GREAT GATSBY // CAREY MULLIGAN IN VOGUE

I just couldn't stand it any longer - I had to see The Great Gatsby ASAP. And that meant heading to the theater last night with my guy in tow. I read the book a few years ago (oddly, I never had to read it in high school) but he was actually the one to introduce me to the 1974 movie with Robert Redford and Mia Farrow. I realized two things after watching the first movie: that a) my boyfriend looks curiously like Robert Redford and b) I am in love with the Gatsby story. I am also in love with these photos from Vogue of Carey Mulligan fully in-character as Daisy Buchanan. The dresses in the new movie were equally as dreamy - they were all designed by Prada. I thought the new movie was good, but not great. I wish it had been a little more "real." A lot of the elements of the film were obviously computer-generated, and the colors were hyper-saturated. It was beautiful, though, and certainly a feast for the eyes! I think they stuck to the story really well, too. All of the famous lines were there. Do you plan on seeing it this weekend? If you already have, I'm dying to know your opinion!

PS: I added a few new things to my little "boutique" section. J.Crew marked down their sale items an extra 30%, and there are so many goodies to choose from!

MONDAY MONDAY // THE LAST WEEKEND

This Monday feels different than the usual grind. I'll sit in my very last class this afternoon. Final exams start in a few days. My college days are numbered and slipping by faster everyday! This was the last free weekend before graduation, so I tried to check off all of my routine college activities. The "lasts" just keep on rolling in. And no typical weekend would be complete without a Sunday brunch... My guy's little brother was in town, so we headed over to one of our favorite McKinney Avenue spots for a cappuccino. And, yes - I managed to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a festive dinner with my housemates. Many of them are starting to move out of the sorority house and into their new apartments; some have even started packing up their things to start life in a new city. There are so many ups and downs that come with this time period of my life, and there are so many questions left to be answered. I know all of these things are expected when such big changes are looming in the near future, but that doesn't make navigating it all any easier. Luckily, I've got a few great people by my side throughout this crazy time.

Have you ever felt like you were on a roller coaster during a time of transition? How did you embrace the changes and get through it?

HOME OF CYNTHIA FRANK

This house was one of those that you find on Pinterest and you just have to click through to see more. Elle Decor contributing editor Cynthia Frank decorated her Southampton home with fresh whites, crisp blues, and lots of greenery. Plus, I have to admire her choice in artwork. Doesn't it make you want to pad around barefoot in the sunshine? Good thing summer is right around the corner.

And because summer is coming so near, that means I am swamped with school work. This week is my last of college before finals hit. I turned in my last paper EVER yesterday. No more MLA, no more double-spaced, no more bibliographies. Sure does feel good. :) How is your week going?

COACH X SAINT JAMES

I love a good collaboration, and I love a good stripe even more. Coach has decided to pair up with Saint James on a stellar collection of summer essentials. I'm sure you are familiar with Coach, but let me tell you a little about Saint James: it started in a small town in France in the 1850s producing knitted sweaters specially made for fishermen. Their past is also closely tied with the French navy - hence the decidedly nautical touch on all of their pieces. I was first introduced to the brand through J.Crew; they carry a few of the signature striped tees and I picked up this one a while back. I visited their store on the Upper East Side last summer with Katie and had a wonderful chat with the manager there. I'm a big fan, and I love what they have whipped up with Coach. How great would that tote be for a trip to the beach? See the rest of the collection here.
